MASTERCLASS | PRODUCTION | BUT WHAT ABOUT THE VISUALS
PART 3 - AVOIDING MISTAKES WHILE YOUR VIDEO IS BEING PRODUCED
But what about the visuals

Many clients, and maybe some video companies too, like to see the script & storyboard (words & pictures) developed side-by-side, at the same time.
I don’t agree. It’s too easy to make mistakes this way.
Let me explain why:
Scriptwriting and storyboarding at the same time is too confusing, there’s too much to consider to complete it all in one session.
I find when the words and pictures are developed at the same time, it’s easy to get 80% of it right. But to get 100% right is too plain difficult.
So divide your pre production into 2 parts:
1: Scripting, ie, agreeing the right words
2: Storyboarding, ie, agreeing the right visuals.
Do them in 2 separate stages and there won't be any confusion.
Remember - there’s no hiding place in a video.
Everything is seen and everything must be perfect.
So take your time, and approach it in an orderly manner, as a sequence, and not a dubious shortcut.
