BUSINESS VIDEO MASTERCLASS
PART 2 - AVOIDING MISTAKES WHEN GETTING QUOTATIONS
3: Online digital video storyboarding
Currently I recommend using Boords for storyboards or something similar
Here’s what a Boords storyboard can look like.
You can see how clear everything is, with little room for misinterpretation.
For you, the customer, it means you can see what you’re getting
- advance visualisation of everything, timed with the voiceover,
- and critically - this happens before all the expensive editing & post production takes place.
As standards, all the pictures can be zoomed into for detail checking.
When a storyboard is online - like Boords - everyone in your company team can share freely, make comments, add suggestions, zoom in on the detail. It's built this way, for sharing.
In fact you can see exactly how your video will look. In advance.
Anyone not using an online storyboard system is taking a walk in the dark.
If IT don’t allow an online storyboard system, then you'll have to make do with a pdf version of your storyboard.
But it should be equally clear.
A part of this storyboarding process will be to send you some trial images first, which are called Style Frames or Reference Styles, or similar.
You should expect to receive at least 2 or 3 Style Frames in advance of your full illustrated storyboard
- giving you a clear idea of the overall visual approach for the key visual themes of your marketing video.
