MASTERCLASS | PRODUCTION | 5: ACQUISITION - FINDING ALL THE PARTS YOU NEED
PART 3 - AVOIDING MISTAKES WHILE YOUR VIDEO IS BEING PRODUCED
5: Acquisition - finding all the parts you need

The Acquisition Stage of video production is when you start acquiring visuals & sound for your video.
These items may include:
> filmed footage
> video library clips, or stock footage
> library or in-house photographs
> original artwork
> library artwork
> animation templates (ways in which screens or objects can compellingly move/whizz around)
> Library animation clips, characters, icons, motion elements and props your video producer may provide
> Clips or assets from videos you’ve previously made
> Any other visual source you need for your video
> Voiceover
> Music
> Sound effects
> Anything else that’s needed to be seen or heard.
These are all part of Acquisition.

Start making accurate plans
You’ll need a plan to do it.
To make it easier to follow, I’ve broken down Acquisition into a few key areas:
- Filmed video
- Filmed interviews
- Library or bought-in visuals
- Voiceover
- Sound
You can skip the parts that aren't relevant to your style of production.
