If you want top of the range graphics and animation for your video – then Harry Finch is the person to go to.
His knowledge of post-production, coupled with his natural artistic flair, makes any project that he works on stand out from the crowd.
And he’s going to tell us why!
Q: What made you get into the business?
A: I used to be a mechanical and electrical engineer for Heinz – but I got fed up with my arms constantly being covered in grease. So I left and went to college.
From there I went to Salford University and got a degree in Professional Sound and Video Technology. I made a few demos there, applied for a job at Studio Rossiter and the rest is history.
Q: What do you do at Studio Rossiter?
A: When I first came here I mainly did editing and graphics. I now do a number of other things, such as project management and sound effects.
Lately I’ve been doing character animation.
Q: Isn’t character animation a new Studio Rossiter product?
A: Yes. It’s been developed as an alternative to presenter based videos.
At first the development process was hard, but the more I do it the easier it becomes – I think this is because I get to understand the product more. Get to understand what it is, its identity.
At first everything about it was difficult, but now the only hard part is getting the movements to work with the sound effects.
Q: What else has changed?
A: My responsibilities have grown, but that’s OK because it means I’m left to my own devices.
In this industry there are always technological changes, usually software updates. Occasionally we have to make hardware updates as well.
When I first came to Studio Rossiter my workstation had a dual core processor and 2GB of RAM – cutting edge at the time. Now, it has 8 processors and 12GB of RAM!
Q: What do you like about working at Studio Rossiter?
A: The main thing I like is the diversity of clients – each job is different.
One day I’ll be making a video for a lawyer, the next day a video for email client software and the day after that a video for an online food business!
Each project is different – and this keeps the creativity levels up!
Q: How would you describe the Studio Rossiter studio?
A: It has a professional yet relaxed atmosphere – and it’s full of creative, intelligent people.
There’s always something creative going on, whether it’s web related, marketing related or a new video.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
A: Just that I really enjoy working here – and I have every confidence that the future will be as bright as the past.
