Interview: Grant Bradley – Presenter
We recently auditioned 4 new presenters for our presenter video service.
And, over the next 4 weeks, we’ll be interviewing each them and publishing the interviews on our blog.
First up is Grant Bradley.
Here’s what he had to say.
Q: How long have you been in the business?
A: I started doing student radio and TV – for the University of York – in 2007. But that was, of course, unpaid.
I began presenting professionally in 2009 – in which I did web video based phone reviews for O2.
Q: What did you do before you started presenting?
A: I used to work at the Apple store in the Trafford Centre. My role there was to advise customers with regards to the technical specification of the available products.
Basically, I told them what the computers could do in a language that was easy to understand and not too geeky.
Q: What kind of presenter work are you doing at the moment?
A: At the moment, most of my presenter work is done for a kitchen manufacturer in Bolton. They have their own studio, recording equipment and editing suite.
I present their videos, which are uploaded onto their website and YouTube.
Q: What’s changed since you first began presenting?
I don’t think the presenting industry itself has changed that much, but I’ve definitely changed my presenting style.
I’ve found my own voice. I’m no longer trying to emulate other presenters.
Also, people are starting to read less and watch more. Whereas in the past a company with a website would rely on text to deliver its message, these days they are opting for a web video – and most of these need a presenter.
Q: What do you like best about what you do?
One word – variety. One day I can be presenting a kitchen video, the next day I can be doing a corporate video.
I also get to travel quite a bit, which I love. Plus, each presenting role requires me to do a lot of research, so I learn a lot of different things.
It’s not a normal 9-5 job by any means – and I like this. The fact that I don’t keep a normal ‘working day’ schedule means I stay fresh.
Q: What was the audition like?
It was great. I found the atmosphere of the studio to be very relaxing – and I was surrounded by enthusiastic and professional people who obviously liked what they were doing.
Q: Do you think Rossiter & Co will be a good company to work for?
A: Absolutely. Just look at the front page and see how many clients they have! I think I’ll have a lot of opportunities to grow with them.
The people who work there are very enthusiastic about what they do, so I think it will be a perfect fit.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Just that having a website with a bank of presenters to choose from is a great idea. I look forward to what the future may hold.
