Writing the Ideal Training Video Script

Every training video needs an ideal script. But how exactly is it done?

Obviously all the training points need to be included. But what then?

Think about it this way, from the user point of view.

The perfect training video is when the programme opens in an engaging way, and the flow of information is so smooth and absorbing that the audience just sit back and take it in, all the way to the end.

Not a second is lost, not a moment wasted.

From start to finish there is a continuous and smooth flow of conscious where learning pours in.

We call this Mission Accomplished.

And it’s sort of obvious when you think about it.

Now, think about what might stop this wonderful flow of learning conscious that we’ve just described.

Things like:

- Unproven assumptions

- Too much controversy

- Wooden actors or extras

- Disbelieved scenes or claims

You need to organise your script - the flow of information - so that at every stage the audience go yes, that’s right ... and that’s right too ...and yes, that’s fine.

If you disturb your audience then you disturb the flow of learning.

Instead they’ll sit there thinking about what disturbed them, and not watch the expensive training video that you worked so hard to produce.

Even worse, when you want to have a follow-up discussion, they’ll only be concerned with what disturbed them, and not what you want them to understand.

Top Tip: The ideal script flows smoothly and truthfully from start to finish.
