What Successful Meetings will do for You

First and foremost, successful meetings will make things happen.

This wonderful news, and cannot be overstated, so I’ll say it again.

Successful meetings are meetings where things happen.

The results will be definite progress. And as part of the natural course of events you’ll be recognised as part of this progress.

Sometimes this recognition will be incremental, and sometimes it will be for one single big success. Usually it’ll be a combination of both.

This is because meetings are like the football league. It’s the overall season that counts in the end.

As well as increased recognition for you, you can expect increased responsibility.

Exercise 6:

This might sound obvious, but do you think that more successful meetings will bring you increased recognition and responsibility?

  • A lot
  • Some
  • Almost none

Write your answer as in, say:

I expect some additional responsibility and some extra recognition to result from my meetings

It’s important to know this because if you can’t make a difference no matter how well you do, or how hard you try, then you have to consider a job move.
