CORPORATE PRESENTATION 1 - HSBC USING MULTIMEDIA
In July we saw how HTSE, the IT Operations arm of banking giant HSBC, took delivery of a new corporate video. This was part of a process of presenting a fresh face to their own huge bank of internal customers and staff through their ITO Change Programme.
This video is now part of a whole new animated multimedia presentation package, which has just been completed.
The menu-driven presentation comes as a standalone version accompanied by professional female voiceover. She tells the story of HTSE improvements while the animations and illustrations are autoplaying.
This is supported by a non-spoken click-through version which was produced for presenters who are knowledgeable enough to tell the story without voiceover support.
Presentation Project Leader Christine Hirst says "The Multimedia presentation was shown to the ITO Change Programme yesterday and it was well received. Our audience was very attentive throughout! For me the indicator of our success was the number of people asking for copies to use at Town Halls and presentations. Alan congratulated us on a job well done with a round of applause.
Well done to the team. We stepped up to the challenge set for us by the ITO Change Programme and met our goal in style! I have enjoyed working together on this project, and it's great that we delivered such a professional result."
Comment: Combining multimedia and video is most definitely the way forward for corporate presentations. Gone are the days when a bit of powerpoint will do, especially when millions of pounds of business are hanging in the balance. Congrats to HSBC for their foresight.
CORPORATE PRESENTATION 2 - USING MULTIMEDIA TO WIN RECOMMENDATIONS
We've just seen how HSBC, a global giant, uses multimedia. Now let's see how a much smaller organisation, UK Farm Finance, can enjoy the same advantages as the "big-boys".
UK Farm Finance are a specialist provider of business finance to the rural community. They find new business partly through being recommended by independent professionals such as solicitors, accountants and bankers.
But it's a big step for these professionals to recommend UK Farm Finance. They need to know a lot about who they're recommending.
David Williams, Sales Director, says "Existing professionals who recommend our specialist lending services to their rural clients, such as farmers, recommend us more frequently as they grow in confidence in our ability to provide financial packages that really work for all parties - for the farmer/borrower as well as the lender."
Encouraged by this, UK Farm Finance made the decision to meet more potential recommenders and alert them to their unique lending services. To help achieve this Rossiter & Co were commissioned to produce a business presentation suitable for presenting to both recommending professionals and farmer/client borrowers.
The presentation is still under development, with plans to use extensive text animation to fire the audience's imagination, making a memorable first impression as a first step towards building mutual trust.
Comment: Studies show that buyers and recommenders trust "bigness" and "the impression of bigness". Bigness matters. By opting for a top notch "bigness" presentation with all the bells and whistles, UK Farm Finance are taking an intelligent approach to winning the confidence of first-time recommenders and borrowers.
TRAINING VIDEO - CARILLION HITS THIRD UPDATE FOR MAXIMUM VALUE
Carillion is one of today's leading infrastructure, building and business services companies, with 40,000 employees and an order book worth over £9bn.
For the third time, their National Construction division recently updated Don't Walk By, a safety video originally produced over 5 long years ago. The update was motivated by the need to involve their new MD with an already successful approach to safety.
Senior Manager, Barry Quatermass, takes up the story "Don't Walk By is part of our Target Zero approach to safety and involves everyone on all of our construction sites - Carillion employees, contractors, everyone. We felt it was important to introduce our new MD to the workforce, and saw the Don't Walk By video as a positive and practical way of achieving this."
New MD David Liming, acting as anchorman to the re-edited programme, was shot against a greenscreen background using a teleprompt, in an office temporarily converted into a studio for the morning. This new footage was intercut at the start of each segment of the original video. In this way, all the of the original interview sections that made the original Don't walk By video such a success were preserved, while allowing the addition of new material.
Using the latest post production techniques the new MD clips were edited in seamlessly, together with a new music track, resulting in a completely fresh look to an old favourite.
Comment: More firms should explore updating their videos. It costs far less than a new one, while the resulting face-lift will breathe another few years of valuable life into a proven workhorse.
NEW MULTIMEDIA GALLERY NOW ONLINE
In the Studio we're constantly responding to requests for samples of our multimedia cds to be sent out in the post, so we figured out a way of making multimedia presentations playable on the web, despite the huge bandwidth they use, and the fact they're written in a dedicated multimedia programming language.
The results are now available to play online.
If you want to hear how the web can walk-and-talk then take a look and see for yourself. The quality isn't as good as playing direct from a PC hard disk, but we can guarantee you'll find our unique approach to multimedia both refreshing and inspiring, and full of ideas for your business.
