FIVE TOP MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION TIPS
- Part 1
1 - Allow between 50-80 words on a screen page. Any more will
tend to look cramped.
2 - Where possible, have voiceover speak the written text on the
screen. Impact and memorability are increased by doing this.
3 - Teamwork among the multimedia production team is all important.
So allow time for Forming-Storming-Norming-and-Performing.
4 - Modern laptops can now play mpeg-2 DVD quality files. So you
might think of having DVD quality video in your next multimedia
production.
5 - Consider carefully whether your multimedia is intended to
run on a 1024x768 or 800x600 PC or laptop. If it's to be projected
it should be the larger size to fill the big screen for impact,
otherwise choose the smaller size to ensure playback on the maximum
number of machines. If you're unsure, budget for both versions.

GREAT WEBSITE PERFORMANCE - Visitors stay longer
While the number of monthly visitors coming to www.rossiterandco.com
has stayed around the 10,000 mark for a while now, we've noticed
that visitors are staying for a lot longer. Page Views are up from
15,000 last Summer, to 21,500 this January just gone.
Staying longer obviously means the site is more interesting so
our efforts in enhancing the site's content and design have paid
off.
Don't forget to let us know if your site needs revitalising.
THE GOOGLE DANCE? - Part II - Getting Linkbacks
Since we mentioned last month how Google's new algorithm has played
havoc with the web rankings of many sites, and that previously
high ranking sites are now ranked less highly compared to academic
sites, well, we have news for you.
Google will judge your site more highly if more sites link back
to your site.
Getting links or linkbacks isn't so difficult. Almost anyone you
have business dealings with may well be happy to give you a linkback
in return for one from you. Similarly if someone wants some PR
or an article or review from you, ask for a linkback as part of
your fee.
Getting linkbacks is as simple as being aware that you need them
and keeping a weather eye open for linkback opportunities.
I could add that this applies as much to large corporations as
it does to local organisations or SMEs.
To find out who links back to your site, install the Google ToolBar
as an enhancement to your existing Internet Explorer. The Toolbar
is free, takes seconds to install, and has a number of time-saving
features that Microsoft don't provide. I've been running it for
over 3 months without a single problem. Try it http://toolbar.google.com/
NEW STREAMING VIDEO COMPANY - We're expanding
With broadband now up to 3 million users in the UK, and ISDN common,
we're planning to launch a new division next month offering video
streaming and associated services such as live webcasting or corporate
TV channels.
The new business will have a new web site too with bags of useful
info on how your organisation can take advantage of the power of
streaming video. Expect more details next month.
WHY NOT USE DVD IN YOUR NEXT PRESENTATION?
With DVD players costing around #50, no one has any excuse not
to play DVD. The quality is fantastic, both sound and vision.
To help, we've expanded our DVD production facilities to make
DVDs faster and better, so if you want to convert your video to
DVD, call us.
Pricewise, allow #50 plus #5 per runtime minute for a new DVD
master. So, for example, a 10 minute video costs #100.
We can also provide stunning interactive moving menus just like
the movies you watch at home, and tastefully designed corporate
covers and cases.
Why not enhance your presentation quality at a single stroke?

THE JOKE - Business Axioms
Whelan's Law: Nothing is impossible for the person who doesn't
have to do the work.
90-90 Rule Of Schedules: The first 90% of the task takes 90% of
the time, and the last 10% takes the other 90%.
Meade's Maxim: Always remember that you are absolutely unique,
just like everyone else.
Nolan's Placebo: An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance.
Hudson's Law: If you have a difficult task, give it to a lazy
person; they will find an easier way to do it.
