FIVE TOP VIDEO PRODUCTION TIPS - Part 1

1 - Clearly define what your objectives are and who your audience is before you start. Tightly focussed objectives lead to a tightly focussed and effective programmes.

2 - Allow 3 months for production, unless you're prepared to plough into diaries to make space. Then it can take as little as 3-8 weeks.

3 - The less locations you use for a video shoot, then generally the less your programme will cost. Without compromising quality, it's often possible to remove 1 or 2 remote locations and save a day's shoot cost.

4 - Don't go it alone. Involve your colleagues. It's better to get their buy-in early, than their sniffy comments later.

5 - Stills can look great in a video. If you've got access to lots of photographs, don't be frightened of creatively including them.

HOW DO I ESTIMATE THE SIZE OF MY MULTIMEDIA?

It's one thing knowing that you need a multimedia, but it's another thing knowing how big it's going to be, and therefore how much it will cost.

We find that nine times out of ten our customers initially underestimate, or overestimate, what they need.

To help you understand better how to do this, we've put together this little page which should help www.rossiterandco.com/multimediacosts.htm

IN AND AROUND THE STUDIO - The Latest Gossip

Lloyds TSB are truly delighted with the Fire Safety video series we completed for them. It was an action-packed mix of drama, animated graphics and instruction, designed to help bank staff understand the fire risks where they work.

Shooting for the DTI with London agency Executive Studio is well underway, taking us in all directions from Southall to Aberdeen, producing some excellent interview material about businesses using broadband.

Our website has had a complete make-over too. First reactions from customers are that it looks great. Take a peek www.rossiterandco.com

Your comments on the new look site are very welcome. If you tell us, then we will listen and improve. Please send comment to mail@rossiterandco.com

THE JOKE - Victim-Free One-Liners

I was getting into my car, and this chap says to me "Can you give me a lift?"
I said "Sure, you look great, the world's your oyster, go for it.'"

Out of every 10 people, one understands binary and the other doesn't.

Four fonts walk into a bar.
The barman says "Oi - get out! We don't want your type in here."

What's the definition of macho?
Jogging home from a vasectomy.

You know those trick candles that you blow out and a couple of seconds later they come alight again?
Well the other day there was a fire at the factory that makes them.

Oi!
