THE CHANGING FACE OF VIDEO
Not long ago the all-too-familiar ten minute corporate video was the norm, perhaps supported by one or two long product videos. But now with video freely playable on cd, we find that lots of menu-driven short videos are fast becoming the new standard.

For example, a short punchy corporate message can now be supported by numerous brief video clips that highlight specific aspects of products or services. Or different speakers from a conference or seminar can each be a menu click.

The multimedia menu-driven approach gives end users access to the information they're looking for, without the penalty of having to wade through unnecessary footage.

Menu-driven short videos have a lot of spin-offs:

- An hour's worth of easily accessible clips on cd show a lot more useful detail than was previously possible in VHS days.

- Different clips can focus on specific user solutions, product or service highlights, or the technical and delivery aspects, or whatever is required.

- The cd is a very convenient and low cost medium to duplicate and distribute. They cost around 30p each for runs of a few thousand.

- The same videos that are on the cd can also be recycled to run from a website. Or as high quality DVD on hard disk.

- The same benefits apply equally to training productions. More detail, greater diversity, greater interactivity.

The digital platform has completely revolutionised our thinking about video. No longer is the corporate monolith the standard. Instead we now have lots of short message-specific programmes, spread across VHS, CD, DVD and Webstreaming.

We find it all rather exciting.

How about you?

USING DVD QUALITY VIDEO IN YOUR PRESENTATIONS
It's now possible to play DVD quality video from your hard disk using the standard Microsoft Windows Media Player.

If you use a projector the difference can be worth it as projected video loses a lot of quality, so the better the source, the better the projected result.

If you have a video you'd like converting to DVD please write to us by replying to this newsletter.

DVD on PC isn't expensive and the quality is superb ... just what you'd expect from a DVD.

GOT AUDIO PROBLEMS WITH YOUR VIDEO?
Do you have a bad clip in your video, with background noise that interferes, or maybe a muffled voice from recording in a difficult situation?

One or more bad audio clips in an otherwise excellent video can spoil the whole effect. But all is not lost.

Our audio enhancing software can not only remove background noise or distortion, but it can enhance the sound to bring back the sparkle.

If you've got this problem, please write and tell us about it. We can probably fix it for you.

A SECOND CHANCE TO TEST YOUR VIDEO STREAMING
Can your organisation's network play streaming video? If it can you could be using it.

Click here to test your capability http://links.streamingwizard.com/rossiter/website/WHYstream100.asx

If you saw and heard a short clip then your connection is up to speed, and you could be using video streaming yourself.

IN THE PIPELINE - The Gossip
As well as all the major projects we work on, we thought you might like to know about some of the interesting little things that pass through our studio ... ... like a couple of hours artwork for Marks & Spencer ... enhancing an animation for the Melton Mowbray Building Society, ... VHS duplication for E&E chemical distribution and Sainsbury's, ... a multimedia layout for The Leeds & Holbeck, .... and a two hour video edit for Matalan to name but a few.

It never stands still here.

THE JOKE
Famous Last Words:

- We won't need reservations.

- Don't unplug it, it'll just take a moment to fix.

- If you knew anything, you wouldn't be a traffic policeman.

- Step on it, son, we're only going 75.

- It's always sunny there this time of the year.

Oi!
