TECHNOLOGY
How does Advanced Digital Editing make a Better Corporate Video?

Everyday we're hearing about new technology making everything bigger and better. But how does this apply to the latest in digital video editing? And how is this relevant to corporate video commissioners? Well for a start, how about technology that can emulate the effect of using a film crew with over 100,000 pounds of equipment?

For example, we’ve all seen films on at the cinema or in the priciest TV ads with scenes that are bright and almost glowing, or scenes that are vivid with rich pinsharp colour, and still others that are almost a grainy monochrome (Saving Private Ryan?). These effects add great contrast and mood, and directly affect the way the audience feel. In many ways these effects actually make the scene. Not surprisingly, film makers know this and employ specialist film, filters, lenses, cameras and lighting to achieve these unique enhancing effects.

The big story is that these sort of effects are now possible on the latest series of advanced digital edit suites, bringing the expensive look of a high cost crew to the corporate marketplace. And this is quite within the reach of any video production on a strictly limited budget. To find out more on the extensive new capability of advanced digital editing and its power to enhance corporate programmes, go to http://www.rossiterandco.com/advanced-video.htm.

HEALTH & SAFETY
Sainsbury’s and Lloyds TSB – The Final Saga

Those of you who’ve been following the Newsletter will know we’ve been producing staff training programmes on Safety During Store or Branch Refurbishment for both the above companies. Well, now they’re both finished, both are very different in approach, and both have been submitted for Millennium 2000 Awards (corporate video oscars) by their respective commissioners. Both are drama-based with all the scenes acted out by a professional cast, but there the similarity stops. Because each company has its own specific set of problems to solve, the programmes are quite different. If any of you are particularly interested in seeing how an up-to-date retail safety programme should look, then email me at mail@rossiterandco.com and I’ll arrange to send you a copy (permission withstanding).

SALES & MARKETING

Targeting Web Traffic

Simultaneously developing staff morale and increasing profitability can be the most elusive target for any business to achieve. However, consultants @Business Excellence have a track record in doing precisely this. Now they've commissioned us to develop their web site, which is specifically aimed at attracting managing director and senior manager traffic. How exactly we achieve this we'll keep under wraps for now, but expect to be kept posted in future issues. Nevertheless, don't let this stop you calling me if you've got an urgent need to attract traffic to your site. Kevin on 01695 726887.
