Shoot Locations & Cost
You’ll need to know the number of locations required for your shoot in order to estimate how many shoot days you require.
Typically, in one day you can get through 4 locations that are near each other. By near each other, this means in the same site complex.
If you have to travel to another part of town, by the time you de-rig all the camera shoot kit, drive through traffic, park, get through site security, and then unload and re-rig all the kit ready for the next shoot, it can take quite a lot of time and you can end up using a whole morning doing very little.
As a guide, you can get 4 locations in 1 day if they’re all nearby, and more if they’re very close.
But if you have to travel between them, you can only get 2.
If it’s significant travel such as 20, 100 or 500 miles between locations, then they scheduled for different shoot days.
Careful thought as to the number of locations you actually need, and how close they can be organised to each other will reduce your shoot days, and substantially reduce your video production cost.
Think: The more the camera is running and the less time is spent travelling between shoot locations, the more value you’re getting for your corporate dollar.
