Praise, recognition and criticism

While not strictly part of the video production process, the fact is that a first class video that really works will win you praise and recognition, and shine on your CV.

It’s a high visibility project that will get you noticed.

The converse applies, sometimes almost cruelly.

Critics will seize on the smallest points where “error” might conceivably exist.

The remedy for this is the same as it’s always been, with any project: Concentrate on doing the best you possibly can, and ensure everyone’s buy-in to the script at the early stages.

And remember: A good producer will be on your side, and you will feel this commitment.

A good producer will steer you through potential pitfalls by drawing on their wealth of experience and know-how.

If I had to choose between two equally matched producers, I’d pick the one I liked, and who I felt showed commitment, and … liked me. Because if push ever did come to shove, then that’s the time when you’ll need friends who commit.

And together you can make a world-beating production!
