You will find many video production companies, in the yellow
pages or via the web: big and small, local and
nationwide. How do you choose the right one?
Pre-select the production companies you are going to invite
to tender, whether this is by recommendation from a colleague,
or because you like the look of their advertising, or you like
web site.
It is counter productive to invite more than three companies
to bid.
You will find it difficult to choose if the choice
is too large.
You're expecting each of them to invest two to
four days preparing and presenting their ideas.
So obviously
some of the better (and therefore busier) producers will decline
to tender if they find they are lined up in a "beauty
parade" or a "dutch auction". These are the
sort of bids that your own organisation probably declines.
Give each of them a full brief and be prepared to answer questions
or even let them see the process or activity in question. Involve
them.
The more they know, the more likely they will come up with
ideas that will work with your audience.
