Public Information Video, DVD & Stream

Also known as public awareness video.

This type of video is mainly produced by local authorities of government departments who need to communicate with a segment of the public, often as a DVD, but also as web stream, or mpg / wmv for playing during community presentations with powerpoint.

Public Awareness DVDs often comprise an interactive menu driven series of short modules, which allow the authority to present a diverse range of background information around the main issue to be communicated.

Public Information DVD might have a menu like so:

Our Aim

  • Quick intro module
  • How we affect you
  • Community reaction
  • Responses from local leaders
  • A mother says etc

This interactive menu-driven approach allows people (the public) to dip in at different levels according to their need or attention span, while ensuring that those who require the full story can get it.

Allowance may also need to be made for translating a public information video into Hindi, Urdu and Bengali, and possibly Punjabi. And also consider Polish and Latvian.

The awareness / information video can obviously be streamed from the website too, though many local authorities need to take advice as their intranets can be quite proscriptive in how they’re used for video steams.
